The water we use to make our products matters. It can effect enzyme efficiency in the mash, flavor profile, yeast health and viability, hop extraction and expression, clarity, and flavor due to contaminants.
With regards to brewing beer, your brewing water can affect your beer in the following ways:
- pH – this will determine how your beer flavors are expressed on the palate
- Sulfate-to-Chloride Ratio – this provides the “seasoning”
- Chlorine or Contaminants – this will cause off flavors in your beer
