We are very excited to be a part of this important program and look forward to helping breweries around the country analyze their beer. To order TTB certified results please visit our Brew-TTB package.
TTB for Kombucha
Kombucha, a fermented tea, can contain trace amounts of alcohol. The amount of alcohol can vary based on fermentation time, temperature, flavoring and other factors.
According to Title 27 United States Code Chapter 8 – Federal Alcohol Administration Act Section 214, “The term “alcoholic beverage” includes any beverage in liquid form which contains not less than one-half of one percent of alcohol by volume and is intended for human consumption.”
Since kombucha may contain 0.5% alcohol by volume (ABV), it is critical that kombucha brewers accurately test their products .
When testing samples of kombucha products from the marketplace, TTB uses the distillation-specific gravity method (AOAC reference 935.21), using a densitometer. For an additional fee, we can perform a distillation on your kombucha product and measure using a densitometer. To learn more click here.
